Lazy hair and my favourite skirt

This was a couple of weeks ago now but I tried a new easy hairstyle for the day, all pinned up with a scarf for some colour. Im also wearing my favourite colder weather skirt. I found it in an unlikely place, for rather cheap and I have worn it a least twice a week since.

Oh Marcel! He saw me taking photos and just had to come and get head pats and a cuddle.

Oh look! Barbie pink lipstick!

Lots of important things coming up that I'll be blogging about so do stay tuned!

Friday night Soiree

On Friday night I was invited to attend the Gatsby Winter Soiree here in Melbourne. With promise of excellent music, champagne, beautiful cars and lovely friends I couldn't say no.

The Cairo Club Orchestra, whom I was looking forward to the most, just look at them! What fine gents.

Pre-soiree self portrait. Stars in my hair and covered in vintage furs.

Amazing cars that I could have probably looked at all night and been happy, so beautiful.

Gabrielle, post soiree at a newly made friends house for Gin...Thank goodness! I need Gin!

Me standing with dream cars while waiting in line.

I had a lovely time, danced and drank, met some potential gentleman members for the Vintage Society and sadly didn't attempt to take either of those cars for myself.
Thanks to Astor Productions for inviting me and putting on a swell night!

A Soiree fit for F.Scott Fitzgerald

With all the hype around the new version of The Great Gatsby on film, there are of course multiple happenings about town.
I however will be at this...

Put on by Astor Productions, I think I am most excited about seeing the Cairo Club Orchestra and the display of wonderful 1920s cars.
I'll try my best to at least look pre 1940's, not much of my wardrobe covers earlier eras but of course I will be sporting fingerwaves in my hair!

I suppose I will be finding my inner Clara Bow and Mae Questel for the night.

Anyhoo do come along! Tickets are still available via oztix and quite a few vintage bloggers and vintage society members will be there.

New purchases

I managed to take photos of my purchases from Love Vintage show today.

Black crepe 1940's dress, 1940's silk blouse, leather purse, 2 handkerchiefs, 1950's gold makeup compact and 2 plastic brooches.

And boots! I desperately needed new ones as my other pairs had fallen apart, but these are nice and sturdy so they should last me a while. I need to get used to the point, I keep tripping up the tram steps. :/

Love Vintage Show

This weekend past was the Love Vintage Show here in Melbourne! Such a fantastic event with all your vintage needs in one place. I always look forward to it!
This year I was invited to judge the best dressed competition on the Friday evening representing the Melbourne Vintage Society, which I started up last December.

Held in the beautiful Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton, it is a stunning backdrop! Look at all those furs! I think I stroked them multiple time on Friday night AND Saturday! I do love vintage fur.
(note: I do not in any way condone new fur and am a strict vegetarian who doesn't even own any new leather either. I simply love vintage furs and think they should not go to landfill or left gathering dust. So please keep any negative comments to yourself and think before you type!)

This entire cabinet was just bliss! I wanted everything in it!

I also fell completely in love with this hairdressing chair! I had to reallllly restrain myself from buying it. I also thought the mannequin beside it was divine!

Yes thats me looking like a total dweeb waiting to judge the best dressed. I can't believe they chose me to be a judge but I did have SUCH fun!

My favourite girl, Gabrielle, of Drame of Exile, looking so amazing that dress was to die for!!

These 2 are trouble I tell you! I love them to bits, especially when comparing bust sizes! Catherine, of Audrey Scarlett Vintage and Jess of Miss Fairchild's Charm School.

I saw so many lovely manicure sets but this was my favourite.

This cloche was perfection! Both Gabrielle and I drooled over it!

I had such a swell time and would like to thank the organiser, Nicole, for inviting me along!
Tomorrow I will show you all what I bought!

Vintage bloggers together for Truly Vintage

Such a wonderful time was had this past Saturday at the Truly Vintage market! Most of the ladies I knew from Vintage Society meet-ups but there were a few new faces from the community that I was so glad to have finally met!
It was a long and busy day, but we all had so much fun hanging out and meeting blog readers and customers shopping for their Vintage fix.
I also had some of my lingerie from my store, Betty & Ginger, along with me and met so many lovely clients and bride-to-be's who I will be consulting with to find their perfect set.
So prepare for a whole lot of photos of the day right now....

The organisers of the day, Trish and Marianne.

Jess (in the brown shirt dress), talking to blog readers/customers. Such a cutie!

When Candice arrived, we practically pounced on the clothing she had for sale. Crazy Vintage ladies!

Eszter and Claire being cuties.

The star of the show, Betty! With Trish who is her owner, so lucky to have such a sweet dog!

So much sweet! Teresa and Claire, probably instagramming. ;)

Betty & Ginger's What Katie Did stock and 1960's fishnet stockings!

That's me! Wearing my favourite 1930's dress, 1940's WWII Victory Brooch and 1940's navy straw hat.

Bullet bra's and girdles!

More vintage browsing.

Here we all are together! From left to right; Me, Claire, Teresa, Jess, Eszter, Kirsty, Trish and Marianne.
Thanks to Teresa from Bess Georgette for letting me use her group photo.

Big Thankyou to Trish and Marianne for organising this day and to Hunter & Co for letting us take over their space for the day!
